Jindal solidified

The panning of Jindal hits the AP's top ten and becomes CW: Republicans, Democrats criticize Jindal's speech.

Later: Howard Kurtz rounds up the Jindal reaction.

  • And this from the AP, who kinda had a weasely "news analysis" of Obama's speech. While AP writers took it upon themselves to find fault with Obama's speech, they merely aggregated the criticisms of other's in their Jindal piece.

I know. I'm petty and whiny. The point is -- as you say -- Jindal's coming out party got universally rained upon.

  • Yeah. HE's just got to start over.

  • Two points: Jindal is no Obama (think 2004 convention speech), and the political universe will most likely change significantly -- and unforeseeably -- over the next 3 years.

Who knows. We may even see the day when Crist is held up as the new face of post Gingrichian, post fundamentalist Republicanism.

  • I find this statement questionable, "the political universe will most likely change significantly -- and unforeseeably -- over the next 3 years."

I don't know if you mean that in the sense of a Dem lean or what, but with the economy where it is, I think the environment will change. How I can't tell you, but priorities will be different, mood, we'll see some figures, especially the newer ones differently....

Think about the change from Bush's "political capital" 2nd inauguration speech to 2007, or from Bush's first inaug to 2003.

(PS. Of all the Repubs, to my eyes, Crist is the one, although they'll never pick him.)
