They're f***in' nuts

I mean, seriously. Secession bills passing in 10 states?

Over what exactly?

(Also: (Politico) Tom Ridge decides not to run, and (Politico) the abstinence only gravy train is over for the favored evangelical groups.)

  • With all the arguments we have with each other, I never thought I would see this. The Republicans truly want to dismantle the United States of America.

If it comes down to it, I hope they are all arrested and put in jail.

Glad I won't be around long enough to see it.

  • The crazy thing is that they aren't evne really citing a concrete cause.

They;re secessionist just out of dislike.

  • The interesting thing is that out of all the states that were red in the last election, Georgia and Texas are the only two that have actually paid more in federal taxes than they received back in federal monies (over the last few years). (Source: Tax Foundation Special Report No. 158, "Federal Tax Burdens and Spending by State," and U.S. Census Bureau's Consolidated Federal Funds Report for 2005.)So, it seems they could afford to. I am pretty astounded at this kind of nonsense, though.

  • Should we rename them the Whigs?

  • i'm convinced the knuckle-dragging whites and southern statehouses have gone over the edge after seeing a non-white elected president. they wouldn't be doing this if HRC had won and doing this same policy...they are throwing every piece of shit at the wall and hoping anything sticks. I really believe the internet, and blogs specifically, have brought the ruin of old-timey GOP in 7 short years. it's all good tho - this kind of insanity can only be eradicated when exposed to daylight. my only fear is the batshit crazies don't rally themselves into some fury and start blowing shit up (Ok City, etc)

  • Will, what's hugely ironic is that Texas used to be one of the biggest net importers of federal money, but not anymore.

PS. Would we have to buy NASA outright or give it back?

    .....

Anon, I don't know if they'd be doing this if Clinton was pres. Probably not, but not because of racism, I think. I don't think a Clinton would have been as popular, so they wouldn't have to secede, they could just attacke her.

And I guess, in a way, this was inevitable. If the rhetoric has to go up every year, eventually you end up here.

I mean the RNC is seriously considering voting on a measure to refer to the Dems as the "Democratic Socialist party" in all official documents.
