Will the Republican sour grapes crusade to overturn Franken's election win make Franken a higher-profile, more "powerful" senator than he would have been otherwise?
I think the greater value to Franken is that it's made him more "serious." It's allowed alot of profile time for him to shuck the jokey/novelty image he probably would have come in with otherwise.
(I wonder if he's been invited to the WH correspondents' dinner?)
Still, I think Coleman's litigious circus has heightened Franken's national recognition. This, together with Franken's low-key and serious public demeanor during all this has (potentially) given him more power -- or maybe credibility -- then he would have had otherwise.
Certainly his political capital has risen in MN due to all this. Yes, Franken has been serious and statesmanly. But no one would have noticed if Coleman hadn't given him the national stage of challenging the election.
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.
This blog seeks to highlight abuse of power, deception, corruption, and just plain bad ideas in government and corporations.

I would tend to agree, but he is a very non-senior Senator who is not exactly coming in with a huge mandate.
More capital than he'd have, but still not too much,.
