The Obama camp sends signals about the Israeli election?
Several deniability steps removed from Obama, but the expression is clear: Whoever wins the Feb 10 Israeli elections, the Obama administration wants them to build their coalition from the center out, away from the hawkish elements. The context being that the new Israeli government had better be ready to give up land for peace.
We'll have to wait to see if that is supported all the way through, but within the historic shape of the US-Israel relationship, that would be pretty big.

That's the strongest signal I've seen yet that Obama means to get involved in the Peace Process.

Yeah.
I was predicting from just after the election that the middle east peace process would be a priority, but I thought it had slipped a bit.

I'm guessing Obama's people were waiting to see what happened with Gaza. Even now it seems a little inconclusive. Hard to say how it will affect the Israeli election.

The early stuff I've seen is that the war is very popular in Israel, so ++ to Kadima and Likud.

Security trumps everything in Israel. It always has.
