  • Powerful image.

We Americans are on the other side of the looking glass, with regard to those who serve in Afghanistan and Iraq. We know nothing of their ordeal. But we'll continue to claim their sacrifice as our own and declare our patriotism by insist not only that they continue to fight and die, but that they are chomping at the bit to do so.

And some how this makes us safer.

  • Strategically how do you hold positions like that? If any of these front line soldiers could speak candidly and without fear of retribution, I wonder what the percentage would be that says this is a major fuster cluck.

    How does this end?

  • it's remarkable photo. On the one hand, with those hazy hills and distances, it looks like it was painted by Albert Bierstadt. On the other, it also looks like the most unpleasant camp-out ever.

  • My first thought looking at this one was how far it is from the Burger King image of the Green Zone.

Afghanistan is a very tough war, and outposts like that have been manned nonstop for the better part of the last 7 years.
