Calls from the right for no recount in Virginia

Interesting.

Bay Buchanan on CNN tells Allen not to call for a recount (after canvassing I assume.)

Redstate makes the same request with a different argument.

(Hotline) Top Republicans in Washington will give Sen. George Allen a few days to take stock of his legal and political options before beginning to pressure him to concede to James Webb. Senior Republican officials and White House aides believe that Webb won the race.

  • Shuster reports that 1500 votes were given to Webb instead of Allen in one of the counties. That brings Webb's lead down to 4000, if true.

If the margin is 4000 or less, I have to believe they're going to litigate.

  • Reality, I would fully expect them to even without that. That's why I saw this as so surprising.

What Republican leader calls this election and why? Do they know there were votes miscounted the other way?

    I don't know. I can't figure this out.

  • That's probably still coming in, but it's not yet reflectyed at CNN or the Virginia elections page.

I'm assuming this is just out, because it's not being touted yet at any of the right sided sites.

(Doing a quick search on blogger (not definitive) I don't see that blogged anywhere.)

I'll keep an eye for it. It would be muy bad news, not just for the numbers, but for recount possibility.

  • Okay, I caught the report.

But, the takeaway from Schuster seemed to be that even with that, the pressure was on Allen to concede.

I do think if it tightens a recount is more likely.

  • It's an easy call.

The Repubs don't need to look worse than they already do.

Stats tell us that recounts rarely overturn the orig. count or decision.

The electorate is in no mood for a sour loser fight in the courts.

Repubs need to unite under their moderates to have any say in legislation.

The neo-cons are dead. The attitude and temperment the neo-cons treated people with, will no longer be acceptable.

The Dems need to come up with specific legislation for some of these problems or they will not win the Whitehouse in 08'.

I don't trust these guys. I'll continue to look over my shoulder for years to come. The beast ain't dead, it's just wounded.

  • Time, you got it about an hour early.

Latest, Allen camp is preparing to concede tomorrow, AP calls it MSNBC calls it.

Although I'll agree with EPM about the neocons. These guys have an agenda that has very little to do with parties or even America. They have flipped already once from Dems to Repubs when after Vietnam, the Democrats refused to take on their hawkish pro israel stance.

    They will survive.

  • Then this is the political fight of this generation; for the neo-cons are dangerous to a free society.

  • My opinion, but yes.
