Outside the Matrix
Every once in awhile, I have this weird moment where I sort of step outside the Matrix of the media debate, and grasp just how really badly things are going on a historical scale. I can't really describe it, but it's kind of fearful awe at the magnitude of fuckedup-edness of where we are today. Overextended, rocketing into debt, fighting two wars at less than a stalemate, having lost the aid of generational allies.... Mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake. All with long term consequences.
It happened tonight while I was watching Hardball as Chris Matthews went through a series of yes or no questions describing the level of lies used to sell Iraq as a war against terror and WMD.
I just can't describe the feeling.

Definitely.
I think neocons feel they are fighting some kind of crusade against evil...of even biblical proportions, if you will. A preamble to judgment day...
The level of hubris required for that -- the mindset that seems to be "If we go down, at least we were right" -- leads to some truly alarming consequences in today's world.
Don't touch that dial.

It is truly mindboggling. There are so many issues of corruption, crime, deceipt and constitution mashing that one cannot follow it all, let alone report on it here. It may be necessary for the major leftist bloggers to organize so that each concentrates on just a couple of issues ie. bradblog on the voting machines. Then again, even that would be more than a full time job. keep up the good work on your end, I read you daily.

Graeme, thanks. I just had a moment there, and it's nice to know I'm not alone. Every once in awhile, my mind boggles.
Nonplussed, that fervent certainty does feed into the feeling. It's partially a belief that they really are detached from reality in a very dangerous way.
And, expatbrian, thanks for the compliment. I've thought about that sort of "sectionalizing" as well, and it is sort of happening. again, voting issues, bradblog, Iraq Juan Cole, Plame Firedoglake, dem polling and causes Dkos, etc.
But I think it breaks down because there's not news in each of these segments everyday and as bloggers are mostly unpaid and do it for their own kicks, they want to write everyday. Also, how can I not throw in my two cents here and there off topic.

It almost makes you realize why the bulk of people simply don't want to see what is happening.
The US is not alone in this, I might add, either the administration or the public.
It must be time for the pendulum to atart dropping and swinging back the other way.
BTW: I've killed my blog for the moment. That will teach me to play with those bloody computer codes.

Cartledge, that's one of the reasons I've stuck with the same template for so long. Early on I got it screwy and more or less had to start over. One trick I found was to create a dummy blog, cut and paste the template over make all the changes there til it works, then cut and paste it back.

It's more to do with a litle bit of knowledge being dangerous lol.
Well the site is back now, except I need to restore a few things like links.
I'd still like to sort out the intergration of my various web bits onto the one server.
I a world of corruption what is a bit of code corruption in the end...
