Thought:
The media are referring to this as an "historic" election because one ticket has a woman and the other has an African-American. But really, we all know they're talking about Obama because Palin isn't historic... Ferraro was.
Palin is merely a political phenomenon -- a bizarre, head shaking curiosity -- in a what-the-hell-will-she-says-next! kind of way.

Well, I would also argue that the widely debated issue of whether Palin is competent kinda tamps down that "historic" thing, too.
