This "reset/reboot" ploy by McCain is another narrative play, trying to get the media to rewrite its entire campaign presentation.
The fact that they're gambling on narrative (rather than an issue) tells you exactly how far behind they see themselves.

Something tells me that if they were interested in getting the media to look at them more favorably, they shouldn't play a song while their candidate is exiting from the speech that starts off blasting "That liberal, left-wing media" in a good ol' country twang...

I getcha.
My bigger question is whether the campaign staff can carry out the positive "body language" long enough for this. It requires a deliberate and constant lie from the campaign.

And next week they're giving away puppies to everyone who casts a vote for John McCain.

Caught Sarah Palin in a long segment on CNN, talking about 'anger'. As you mentioned in earlier posts, they Republica campaign is attempting to reframe the 'anger' they've elicited as a general 'anger' at Congress, at Wall Street, at 'mismanagement'...
The part I fear, I guess, is that in making it okay to voice racism and calls for death, the Republican side has awakened that drowsy beast again. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that crazies don't start coming out of the woodwork in every Middlesex village and farm, post-election.

I think that reframing is their best way out because it makes their supporters, not racist, but just frustrated voters desperate for McCain style change.
It's pretty funny though because the argument is, in effect "tough economic times makes these people 'cling' to their racism."
(You know, there's nothing YOU can do about the nuts, so, just let it go. You have to trust the SS to do their jobs.)
