Political bits

(LATimes) "The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario over the weekend on suspicion of voter registration fraud."

(WaPo) A very interesting look at the development of the Obama fundraising mechanism.

(Politico) The Obama campaign claims no knowledge of Powell. (sure.)

(ABC) A teaser on the ABC/WaPo poll. No topline numbers, but 60% of voters say Ayers is not a legitimate issue, and Palin polls badly.

(ThePage) On NBC this morning, Obama repeats, "The race will tighten."

(FirstRead) Chuck Todd says that even SC is closing.

And, (Kurtz) Judy "kneepads" Miller goes to FoxNews. (at bottom.)

  • FoxNews seems to be building and even bigger and louder echo chamber (Beck, Miller, etc). They seem to be recruiting folks out of traditional media outlets. A side effect to this is two-fold, I think. It's making FoxNews evermore irrelevant as a true news outlet. And it's freeing the traditional outlets of their weaker players and the notion of false balance.

I'm hoping traditional journalistic outlets will go back to intellectually honest balance and point to FoxNews for those looking for phony "balance."

  • That's an interesting point that they're thinning out the crazy in the other outlets.

(Judith Miller might be a "pay off hire." Somebody along the way who was happy with her discredited reporting put in a word to Ailes.
