The totally and completely unbelievable Obama fundraising number

Holy Sweet Jesus.....
The Obama campaign announced this morning that it had raised a record $150 million last month, and had added 632,000 new donors to its total.

Probably as amazingly, that was built on "the average donation for September was less than $100."

So, (quick math,) more than 1.5 million donors in September alone?

(Also: The DNC raised $49.9 million, $27 mil. cash on hand.)

  • I guess the plan for spending $39 million in Florida isn't as crazy as it once sounded.

McCain gets $84 million for the entire election, and has to defend far more ground than Bush ever had to...with a fraction of the money Bush had.

And, as we've already seen, the RNC is pulling back funding from the Presidential race to boost the down-ticket races. There goes McCain's cushion. He still has the 527's, though, with their generic national message.

This means that Obama's ground game can move forward at full pace, and even take advantage of any weaknesses in traditional red states.

Who would have thought that Democrats would have the money advantage in the national race? During the primaries, the financials from the DNC were gloomy, but they are only a minor factor at this point in the national race.

I guess America is backing the "socialists" with their money.

  • It's just unbelievable. As you say, this is the DEM we're talking about. Dems never outraise Repubs.

And, I agree that the most important part of this is that the groundgame will be very well funded.

(Plus, I think it does have a dispiriting effect on the other side.)
