Picture of the Day (I'm sure you've seen it, but.....)

(Politico) The boos were "resounding...." an "avalanche."

(CNN) "90 seconds of sustained booing that rumbled through the arena....." (video)

And, don't miss, "The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, “How dare they boo Piper!”" (Notice the Obama signs in the back.)

  • Some commie liberal elitists must have snuk into the arena.

  • Best part of all the videos? She's so inept she kisses Scott Gomez of the Rangers but not Mike Richards of the Flyers even though she's in front of a Philly crowd.

  • Gomez is a home-town Alaska kid. but, you're right, just another reason to think she likes the NYR over PHI. Hockey fans are superstitious too..."Palin was there and we lost...OMG you know what that means!"

PS - I am a huge hockey fan. Philly almost came back to win and would have except for Valiquette in the Ranger nets...

  • Great. Bush gets booed at the Nationals game, and is Palin booed at the Flyers game.

Interesting that she expected to get booed, and took measures to preempt it by using her daughter as a human shield. What a pit bull she is.

  • Anon, I was a huge hockey fan, every single televised playoff game, but left it during the strike and rules changes.

Jeff, plus, the booing part of the video is so short that it guarantees replay.

Todd, What's the effect on a seven year old of walking out in front of 15,000 fans angrily booing your mother?

  • Mike, what about the new rule changes? You've gotta love how they've opened the game back up with eliminating the two-line pass. No more back and forth in the neutral zone so much.

  • Yeah, regular season is better, BUT.

The one thing I used to like about hockey over all the other sports is that in that ugly, ugly, clutching and grabbing, and dirty elbows of the playoffs, it really came down to the team that wanted it more.

It would be struggle, struggle, struggle, and then someone would tear themselves free for that moment of glory.

Admittedly, this European/International style is prettier to watch, and displays far more skating and skill, and is much more accessible to less regular fans, but I always worshipped hockey for the struggle, and that's kinda gone.

  • Yeah, true. I miss seeing people try to park in front of the net for a screen and taking a cross check to the back to try to clear the crease.

It's made its way into youth hockey. There used to be a rule here in Illinois that 15 penalties or more in a game would result in the coach's suspension for the next game, and with all of the minor infractions being called, teams were rotating between the coach and assistant coach being suspended for a whole season.

  • She said, “How dare they boo Piper!
How dare she use her daughter as a campaign prop and human shield!

  • Jeff, I do get the new rules. It makes it far more accessible to a wider audience, but they took the part I liked out.

Let me clear, I'm not a huge fan of violence, I never liked the fights, but that clawing, struggling, etc.... I found that compelling.

(I also really like "running between the tackles" in football. Same premise, I assume.)

    ....

    Lew, and admit it?

One of the keys to using your kids for political gain is not to admit it.
