Why do these Repub women always look like their stuck in their cheerleader phase of high school? I dunno -- and call me sexist if you must -- but Palin just looks light weight. Come on. Get a grownup hair cut, button the shirt, and stop talking like you're still running for senior class president or Miss Congeniality:
Q:Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.
There's almost a Stepford Wife-like quality to their gender identity. There's a dimension of immaturity -- stunted intellectual and emotional development -- where dogmatic belief replaces deep thoughts. Ms. Palin isn't alone in this. She's just the latest example of this new GOP Evangelical sex-kitten thing.
EPM, I think you've got it backwards. In the Republican party, where white males constitute the largest block and control the structures, I think there might be a bias towards this type. It's not that they're a prototype of Republican women, just that they're the ones who can win in the male party.
Not a blanket statement, there are many Republican female officials who aren't of the type, but I would wager there is a reason that the FoxNews women almost all look exactly alike.
I'm going to somewhat disagree, though we could be saying the same thing. As you pointed out, there are many Repub women who don't fit into this shallow, image over substance mold. Look at Bay Buchanan, Olympia Snow, Susan Collins, Mary Matalin.... I think this is tied right to the evangelical cult within the Republican party.
I was lamenting this variety (FoxNews bunny) of Republican women, not all Republican women.
Just as an aside, the phrase "Under God" was added to the pledge in the 1950's as a response to "godless Communism". The Founding Fathers never took the Pledge of Allegiance, either.
Todd, have you seen the old, old pictures of the kids doing the "Hitler salute" that used to accompany the pledge? Before Hitler obviously, but hand raised and all that?
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.
This blog seeks to highlight abuse of power, deception, corruption, and just plain bad ideas in government and corporations.

I may be shallow, but that's the way I see it...

Gotcha.
My argument was that of within the variety of women, the male controlled party show a slight pre-selection tendency towards that type.
