I'm no fan of Ron Paul as a credible Presidential contender, but he seems to be fairly clear-eyed on the current economic tangle:

Honestly, I didn't read it, but generally I view Ron Paul the exact same way I view the modern academic application of Marxism. Excellent for policy and economic criticism, very able to highlight the flaws and gaps, but I don't generally think the proposed solutions will work.

Opposite ends, but the same utility.
