By all reports, the framework of a bailout deal is done.

However, GOP House leader John Boehner issues a statement insisting that it's not, raising the likelihood that Boehner will try to say that only McCain could make the deal.

Boehner's statement comes, of course, shortly after a closed door session in his office with McCain.

(White House Spokesman Dana Perino revealed that the White House meeting today came from the McCain campaign.)

This is becoming more and more a blatant political stunt... by McCain, by the GOP. They're not even trying to pretend it isn't. They're just beggin' for Obama to call them on it. They're beggin' to make the next several weeks ugly....

Well, they're betting on the American people being extremely stupid, and the media giving them all credibility.

I'm sure that nothing of consequence could have happened at that table without Mr. McCain's presence.

No doubt whatever that he was the indispensable catalyst, and the fearless Republican Leader, coralling those fractious committee members.

The next couple of days will show us to what degree the media is complicit with the charade...

And how dumb the American electorate is.

So by "help resolve this problem" John means "muck things up. And by "suspend my campaign" he means "press on with Sarah in a news blackout."

What a prick. And Boner's just the rep to prick it up for McCain.
