Picture of the Day

Dana Milbank minces: "....After an appropriate wait, she steps from the plane and pretends to wave to a crowd of supporters; in fact, she is waving to 10 photographers underneath the airplane's wing. She pretends to spot an old friend in the crowd, points and gives another wave; in fact, she was waving at an aide she had been talking with on the plane minutes earlier."

  • This reminds me of Bill Murray's old SNL lounge singer character. The pointing, winking... "hey, what's up?"

The thing with this sort of phoniness, is that it belies a willingness to deceive. So while on paper I would be excited to have Hillary in the Oval Office, in the three-dimensional real world she lacks a certain believability -- credibility -- that she actually means what she says.

    Sad really.

  • I posted it because I thought it somehow captured the artificiality of her continuing campaign.

She can't win, she knows she can' win, and yet she just goes on smiling and waving even when it's plain that there's nobody there.
