Filling your need to know

This isn't the full day, so treat it for what it is, but here are early exit poll descriptives from the AP and ABC.

30% of the turnout in Indiana was Independents and Republicans?

Per TalkLeft: "Fox reports the rural vote in Indiana is less than expected, and the vote in Indianapolis and Gary is high. On the other side, Republicans are turning out in bigger numbers than expected."

(And, If you want to see the overall early exits (highly unreliable) look here.)

    +++++

    you mean, voting as temporary Democrats in the primary?

    how much would you imagine the results are being skewed by Republicans voting Hillary, trying to mess it up for Obama, and to give a bigger, squishier target for McCain?

  • I really don't know.

    When the primary circus was in Texas, I met a number of Republicans who genuinely voted for Clinton because they believed she'd be a better (more responsible) president. They planned to vote for McCain in the fall, but they thought they'd try to shift Clinton as a second choice.

    Some of them are certainly in for chaos, but some, I'd argue, are in for real.

  • Huckabee is still pulling in double-digit numbers even though he's been out of the race for... how long now? Mitt and Ron Paul, too, are pulling in measurable numbers, leaving McCain with number's in the high 70's.

    Talk about voters who's votes don't count -- given McCain already has the delegates necessary for the nomination -- about 25% of the GOP primary voters are voting against him... And what does this say about the untold numbers who just stayed home?

  • Yeah, but I'm hesitant to draw too much from that.

    The Huck people are motivated and trying to make a statement, the McCain people have no reason to come out, and alot of the GOP crossed over.

    It looks shocking, but I think if there was no competitive Dem primary, it would have been alot more for McCain.
