Oliver North campaigning in Nicaragua
I'm not kidding. The key figure in Iran Contra is now down in Nicaragua campaigning trying to keep Daniel Ortega from winning the election.
This is so unbelievable to me, I don't even have a kicker line.

From the article:
"The anti-American leftists in Latin America are using elections ... to take and then solidify power. It's a tactic that seems to have escaped the striped-pants set in our State Department."
Elections are a tactic!? Never mind respect, these people have no concept of democracy, do they. If you don't get your way, get your gun. That seems to be the neo-con m.o.

It really is. I've thought about this for hours now, and I find it no less unbelievable.
And, from his presence, I'm guessing that the election is centering on the same split of rich pro-US vs. poor anti-US that has typified so many Latin American elections lately. That's the only way I can see Ollie being any help at all.
