Bush's light schedule
If you're a Dem, looking for things to worry about,
President Bush will hold no public events of any kind on Wednesday, an exceptionally light schedule this close to next Tuesday’s midterm elections. That sparked questions about whether Bush has a “November surprise” in store. This is, after all, a president who has twice managed to sneak away to Iraq.

I'd say a good 57% of the country would like to see him sneak away to Iraq and stay there.

Really, I would be amazed at this point. The media would call bs, and frankly, after all the security issues on Condi Rice's last trip, I would be surprised he would be allowed to go.
But, on the other hand, Hadley flew in Monday and could be setting up a deal to announce, although I would find that hard to believe after today's news.

Bush did have a November "surprise" planned--Hussein was supposed to be convicted right before the election. The judge, of course, disliked being used as a pawn in the American political process and seems to be holding it off until after the election.

Good point about the Saddam verdict. I've seen both that it has been delayed and that it has not yet but will likely be.
The cost of not delaying it by the Iraqis in violence is just unimaginable.
