A scandal teaser.

From a local San Diego paper(via Josh Marshall.)
"This is much bigger and wider than just Randy 'Duke' Cunningham," he said. "All that has just not come out yet, but it won't be much longer and then you will know just how widespread this is."

Ooooohhh. Don't tease me, baby. Don't tease me.

  • I hope something happens soon. I read today that oil experts are predicting gasoline prices will fall 75 cents by Labor Day. How convenient for the GOP, and just before the midterm elections kick into high gear. I sure hope Americans don't fall for that trick and forget about the rampant corruption in this administration.

  • How does that gas price fall happen? As far as I've read, there's no new major supply coming online, so that would have to be a post summer drop in driving demand.

We'll have to wait and see. There appears to be slack demand that has been put off by higher prices. China India and behavioral changes here which could snap in.

Also, I don't think it really matters too much in the politics of it all. People are turning against Bush on gas prices, but I would argue that it's falling into the "incompetence" area, so that when prices go back down, people will still think he's incompetent. (I am convinced there will still be evidence of that.) They'll turn that concept of incompetence to Iraq or disaster recovery or whatever the admin is doing wrong at the time.

My point is that I think alot of minds are being changed semipremanantly and that once changed they will find new anchor points to justify that worldview. Just an opinion, I could certainly be wrong.

I think a lot of people are -- or will be -- asking the the same thing. Just as they did when prices magically jumped up.

I think a mysterious pre-election price dip could be used against the Repubs, with Dems spinning it as a "what the f***!" oil company/Repub price manipulation. The Repubs could be painted as partners in price gouging and screwing American working families.

    We'll see.

  • I was thinking about that, too. It's really just a quetion of how my TV characterizes it. Because it shapes reality, you know.

(Apparently, we're deep into mike's relationship with his television today. I don't know why.)
