Picture of the Day - 2

  • Nice shot of Powell giving Rummy "the finger," in a manner of speaking. :)

  • "Mess with State again... and I'm gonna find me some cold, pipe-hittin' ni**ergs to go medieval on yo' ass!"

  • Sorry the pictures not better. The original was a tiny postage stamp on the PBS site (Frontline - Rumsfeld's war.) So, I enlarged it a little.

All I keep thinking since this Fire Rumsfeld movement began is that George Bush bet on the wrong horse in the Rumsfeld/Powell argument. Of course Cheney was whispering in his ear.

  • Bush didn't want a general, he wanted a disciple. The classic "when I want your opinion I'll give it to you," school of management.

  • remember when people were saying bush is an idiot but he surrounds himself with smart people? turns out only one semi smart person. i can't wait until something finally sets off powell and he writes a tell all memoir about how he was shut out of key decisions

  • EPM read the Dean piece I've got linked a little further up the page. It talks about the profile type of George Bush.

Graeme, Powell will never write a tell all. He's made his entire career out of hoarding information and releasing just little bits to make him look good. Remember, he got his first profile as an investigator at My Lai.

Powell will only leak what's useful to him, no more. If he writes a tell all, it will be bland with just enough bits to pin everything on everyone else. No more.

If you want an example, look at what Larry Wilkerson is saying. Powell's knows all of that and has mentioned only one or two key points.

I keep hoping McClellan will go off the rails at his last press conference and say "what do you want to know?"

  • I keep hoping McClellan will go off the rails at his last press conference and say "what do you want to know?"

That would be awesome, but it will never happen.

  • I fully know that. I just dream about it. Literally, the day after his "resignation" was made public, I fell asleep thing how awesome that would be.

I mean, how amazing would it be if on his last day, McClellan said, "Allright, I've got an hour. I will any question you have."

Suddenly, the power goes out in the press room.

It makes me smile just typing it now.

A boy can dream, can't he?
