Besides, we all know the nucleus of national power prognostication lies in New York's 23 congressional district... not Virginia or New Jersey. :)
I joke, of course. But if you think of it, in races for NATIONAL offices, the Dems did OK, didn't they. Not that there's any real legislative impact in this... just a point of trivia.
The only race where I gave a damn, was the Maine referendum to repeal the rights of gays to marry. I dropped a couple of grand in Maine on vacation last summer. Not this year... or next... or...
Of all the weird-ass referendums, most of them are just dumb or narrow-minded. But to actively pry a right away from my neighbor -- a right that bares on my neighbors dignity as a human being -- why that's just hateful and cruel.
If you want a stat, the Dems have won the last 5 House special elections,a pretty unprecedented streak.
I was just struck by how the national media is covering local elections with absolutely no mention of the actual issues or prsonalities or the fact that only local people got to vote.
I'm not going to to into the anti-gay stuff because that's one I believe in very, very strongly, and I'll go off, and it's way too pretty of a day to spend it angry.
And, check those videos I embedded above this post. I think they'll both make you laugh out loud.
Great videos. I don't think people care what pundits have to say, but the hate-tainment talkers seem to have the power to tilt the public perception on reality as well as influence traditional media framing.
I think that's one of those powers they have because nobody in a position to diminish them really cares enough (or is willing to take on the cost of the battle.)
I mean, look at Olbermann who goes after O'Reilly. He only does that because it works for his show, not so much because it's the right thing.
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.
This blog seeks to highlight abuse of power, deception, corruption, and just plain bad ideas in government and corporations.

Corzine barely won his last election, didn't he?
