This is what I was talking about in a comment a while back. The elections in Afghanistan were designed and implemented by the UN (with token Afghani representation). That's part of the reason why Galbraith was "reassigned." The UN is in major ass-covering mode now.

Yeah. I didn't think they were this involved.
And, I haven't dug enough to know for sure, but I'm still not completely sure Galbraith left to take the moral high ground. A good diplomat would be taking the high ground to explain in the best way possible why he was leaving.
Doesn't really matter, just my naturally suspicious spin nature.
