Can't do better?

Because it's kind of a slow morning, I thought I'd go back and reference George Will's hilariously serious editorial against denim.

(He must have been upset by someone at his golf club, "Today it is silly for Americans whose closest approximation of physical labor consists of loading their bags of clubs into golf carts....." (How dare they!))

  • Any item of clothing, or object, could be fitted into the template of the essay, and the author could skew the intention to the conclusion of his choice. I don't think he's successfully deconstructed jeans-wearing.
And to say that Astaire/Kelly fashions are the answer to a question is no answer, but simply to be a member of a given historical era.

I personally don't feel comfortable in what used to be called 'slacks', but I'm happy in jeans. They last for years, where 'nice pants'
    just disintegrate.

    It's obvious I was a 50s/60s kid, isn't it?

  • To me it was funnier that of all the things Will could be raging about with Obama as pres and the dems in Congress, he's going on about denim?

I can just see him, seeing someone in Levis on his golf course and fuming, and the writing this worthless piece as if it matters.
