Question

Why is it "class warfare" only when it negatively impacts the rich?

When the poor get screwed, it doesn't have a name.

(Thank Politico for reintroducing the term.)

  • In capitalism the owning class is the "engine". To tax wealth is to rob the "engine" of it's energy. The wealthy own the media and therefore they have THE mouthpiece to trumpet their agenda.

Unwittingly the middle-class and poor that have absorbed this whole propaganda matrix truly believe that their futures rise and fall with the wealth of the owning classes. It couldn't be further from the truth but that's the weltanschauung we're stuck with in the US. We'll need a Hegelian dialectic of mammoth proportions to wipe out this stalling of History.

  • I generally agree except for "stalling of history."

This relationship is one of the standards of history. This sort of thing continues until there's a movement back against it. A peasant's revolt in the olden days, a labor movement in the newer.

  • Look how hard moneyed interests are trying to re-inflate a bubble that has already burst? They are stalling history in order to preserve a equity facade that has vanished.

  • That's a great question. It's one example of how the right has been allowed to frame the issues for too long.

  • Okay, Anon, I get ya. I thought you were saying that income inequity had somehow stalled history.

    ...

    Abi, exactly.
