how or why does he not realize "the plumber" blew up in his face and now is a running joke??

Well, The picture is a couple days old. It was from CNN with no caption, so the date's not there, but, yeah, they're still pushing it today.

They only put "Plumber" on there because his real last name has already been forgotten. Or no one on the McCain campaign was smart enough to spell it correctly...
