Picture of the Day - 3

I'll ask again. How is it that the 47 year old comes across as the grownup in the room?

  • Some people don't like grown ups. They prefer crazy, unpredictable Uncle John who lives life on the edge. Yeh Ha!

    (Obama is 47, btw)

  • Sorry. I'll fix that. I wrote it quick.

Everybody takes a deep breath when crazy uncle John shows up at Thanksgiving..

  • In parts of OH, PA, ND, SD, etc. crazy, "mavericky" ol' Uncle John is revered as "a real man" no matter his impotence to affect real results.

  • as a lifelong Ohioian, I can say I have heard it first-hand from knuckledraggers in parts of Ohio that they "don't like no darkies". (except the ones playing for the browns, bengals and buckeyes...darkies don't play much baseball anymore)...sigh...

is there a place where people like that don't exist?

  • Guys, yeah that exists. The question is to what degree were those people likely to vote Dem anyhow.

The majority of the racists probably vote Republican 99% of the time.

There was a reason they pushed that highly racist anti-immigration thing three years ago.

  • No I get that these are not swing voters. I wondering how McCain's stunts will -- or will not -- motivate these folks to actually go to the polls. Do these stunts -- these theatrics -- motivate the 'wing to go to the polls for McCain?

My feeling is if the election was this Tuesday, then yes. But I'm not sure these voters can stay motivated without continual drama.

  • No, After Palin, they were fired up, but it's my sense they're souring right now.

That may well change, but my sense is the enthusiasm is ebbing right now.
