So Boehner's problem was that McCain would not get credit?

Now that's presidential. (From the NYTimes)
But a top aide to Mr. Boehner said it was Democrats who had done the political posturing. The aide, Kevin Smith, said Republicans revolted, in part, because they were chafing at what they saw as an attempt by Democrats to jam through an agreement on the bailout early Thursday and deny Mr. McCain an opportunity to participate in the agreement.

It sure is a good thing McCain flew in to grandstand on this one.

(Again, it is notable that McCain's only stop besides the White House, his first stop in Washington, was Boehner's office.)

  • McCain's a senator... right? Just checking.

Any sense on how the media is playing this? Political farce and grandstanding or "can-do maverick puttin' people first"? I think they're still framing this as McCain is working on the crisis, even thought, well, he isn't.

We have 535 representatives -- plus staff -- to deal with this "crisis." We have two men running for president; one of which will be the president elect in just over five weeks. Where should McCain be tonight?

  • I just finished a post above that catches my "sense" of the thing.

And, if this negotiation collapse is blamed on McCain, I wonder if he can go to the debate tonight.
