Rush Limbaugh helps the McCain campaign reach for women,

  • That's quite a stretch.
She's not that attractive, and she's had five kids. Not that any of that matters for the office of VP, but it's a weak point to try to play on.

  • I was intending to comment on Rush Limbaugh qualifying the Repub VP pick because she's "a babe" not, you know, smart, capable, etc.

It's the casual sexism from someone who will be one of her main sellers that got me.

  • Yeah, I got that from the "helps the McCain campaign reach for women" remark.
She (and her husband) had better get used to this.

  • Yeah, she's the token at the country club.

  • The first thing I thought when I saw a photo of McCain's VP running mate was 'Who is that, now?'

I will admit that the second thing I thought was 'Hey, she's cute.'

And I'm pretty sure that all the commentary about her for the next week will be variations on those two themes...

If it's an attempt to throw attention off himself and his problems, McCain's made a reasonable choice.

If it's an attempt to find a good VP for the entire country, I'm.... dubious.

  • Yeah, it's a "get me elected because I'm not winning without a gamble" pick.

I have a hunch she may ride a little bit here as the media doesn't want to damn her right off, but she's a purely political pick, so, I would imagine that cynicism will start to come through.
