A McCain surrogate on the campaign's conference call,
All Muslims.......

The Muslims have said either we kneel or they're going to kill us. ... I don't intend to kneel and I don't advocate to anybody that we kneel, and John doesn't advocate to anybody that we kneel.
All Muslims.......

When I referred to McCain's "idiot choir" a week or so ago, this was the kind of thing I was talking about. We are going to see more and more of the braying jackasses as time goes on, and they are going to wear down McCain's moderate and independent support. It doesn't matter if McCain "distances himself" from them or not. A mental association will indelibly form between these loud-mouth morons and McCain himself.
These kind of statements only play well to those who are already 'won over'. The rest think it's irrational, hateful, and ignorant.
Yes, as if the public has been waiting for Bud Day to "advocate" this or that.
How about the Muslims serving in our military? Or the Muslims in the "Awakening" (Sahwa) militias? Or Karzai and Maliki? Yes, of course, we are supposed to "know what he means" even if he can't express it. Which makes one wonder why the McCain campaign put this 85 year-old "war hero" on the conference call to speak for them. It would be different if someone caught him yelling this stuff at a fire hydrant while in a less lucid moment, but they chose this guy and put him on the call specifically to express his views.
Wingnut response:
- he's 85, he's been tortured. He knows not what he speaks.
- he's a war hero. Anyone who criticises him dishonours the military.
- it's all true.
"Right on. Anyone who has studied the koran and Islam realize the religion is based on world wide domination of Islam. there is no equality, you either convert, pay a tax(cant worship or practice your religion) or you die. Check the history books. There is a war coming and the liberal media refuses to accept it.

EPM, exactly.
....
Todd, not only is there the regular problems with the JAckass GOP folks, but McCain is double hamstrung because he really can't get the "A team" GOP to stand up and talk for him.
Bud Day's job, the former swiftboater he is, is to throw that "tough" out there and try to say Obama is weak, but still....
It once again gives the impression of a McCain campaign out of control, careening.
They just can't get it together. They don't know what they want to do.
They look as "at sea" as the Clinton folks did, swinging day to day from attack to message, to defense.
