Peepants

For the most powerful nation in the history of the world with a military strength capable of scraping all life off the face of the earth several times over, there sure is alot of "oh me, oh my" fretting over Iran test firing known conventional weapon missile designs that can't even reach Europe.

What happened to us? We stared down the Soviets for god's sake.

I mean, yeah, if Iran started lobbing missiles it would get really messy, but they're not going to do that unless they're attacked first.

Later: The US reaction was so good that the Iranians did it again, firing more missiles today.

  • It's fabricated to make us nervous. I don't know what the objective is apart from starting another war. I suppose somebody gets rich of missiles and missile shields.

  • No, it's pushed to make us nervous.

It's funny how the most pro-attack Iran, the most pro-military quake at every little provocation.

  • I understand Israel feels threatened but I think it's mainly the challenge to Western prestige that infuriates some in Washington.

  • The chickenhawks are violent, brutal, and militaristic. They may be men (and women) of power, but not of strength. They, like the oppressed white christians, operate in an atmosphere of victimhood, fear and paranoia, not strength, character and vision.

So they pee their pants at the slightest twitch from Iran (or whatever perceived agent of evil. Ahmadinejad could order lunch at a restaurant and it would set the chickenhawk neocons off.

  • Ah, those nutty Iranians... Following in the footsteps of the Soviets, only with better software.

  • Anon, yeah, but since we have people here advocating starting a war, prestige needs to be down the list, you know?

    ....

EPM, and these guys try to claim the legacy of the cold warriors.

And, that NYTimes link is pretty damn funny.

  • Is it the legacy of the cold warriors they're trying to claim or the legacy of WWII commanders? I hear a lot more references to Hitler than I do to Stalin coming out of the neo-cons and chickenhawks.

    Just wondering.

  • Oh, they're trying to claim Al Qaeda is the Soviets (or Hitler) and that only they have the fortitude for the fight.

That's what I mean. They are trying to claim the courage of that past generation. (most of whom fought in WWII.)

  • Gotcha.

    And this line is hilarious!

"The US reaction was so good that the Iranians did it again"
