Picture of the Day

(ABC) "At 39 months in the doghouse, George W. Bush has surpassed Harry Truman's record as the postwar president to linger longest without majority public approval.

Bush hasn't received majority approval for his work in office in ABC News/Washington Post polls since Jan. 16, 2005..."

(Yes, that would be four days before Bush's second inaugural.)

  • I'll zap it. I usually do if given enough time.

  • Bush finds value in the approval of friends... his inner circle... his bubble. His disdain for the public allows him to wear his low approval ratings as a badge of honor, as the cliché goes.

I'm sure he see the 33% as good, loyal Americans and the rest of us as commie, pinko, terror-enablers. He would even want our approval.

    Just a thought...

  • That should be: "He wouldn't even want our approval"

  • You know, I'm quite sure he believed that in 2006, but I wonder about now. Inevitably he's looking at that legacy, and it will soon be out of his hands.

The economy, Iraq, all those things he kept saying people will applaud him for after he's dead will soon be up to someone else who really has an incentive to make it look like his fault. (which it was.)

  • Now, what did he expect? Having no experience running the household, the parents handed him the keys to the place saying, "We'll be gone for the weekend, you're in charge, and remember - NO PARTYING!"

I'm thinking there'll be nothing but a smoldering heap of ashes left when they return, i.e., they may have have been gone too long to salvage anything when they return - if they ever do.

  • Yeah, I don't think this is going to be like in the movies where the kid gets everything back in place right before the parents get home.
