The NYTimes tears into Clinton
Adam Nagourney writes a story on the chaos inside the Clinton campaign, but frames it very clearly as the fault of the candidate, repeatedly painting her as unable to manage people and run her own campaign with the clear implication towards an inability to run the White House.
Frankly, this is pretty harsh to be labeled a "news" story.

What is up with the Times lately? Really losing my respect.

It's getting really weird. They went after McCain for the lobbying story which was valid, but then added that "romantic" angle that they didn't really ever support.
And I don't think I'd have had much of a problem with this one if it had been framed with that loosening "analysis" tag up at the top.
It's still a nasty article for Clinton, but "analysis" would have reflected that these are interpretations of Clinton's role and actions, not a reporting of fact.

And don't forget Kristol, though that's ed.
As a liberal, I find their choice of Kristol to represent the "right" insulting.
But back to news, yes, it's just getting sloppy. Perhaps they're becoming the FNC of the left? Unabashed.

Kristol is a shame.
And my estimation would be that it's more a lowering of standards than an ideological tilt. They're trying to shift their position from paper of record to something more "sizzling" in the era of the 24 hour news cycle.
It's never pretty when the "old grey lady" puts on that skirt that's a little too short.

It's about business. Selling papers. The newspaper business is in tough shape these days, NYT company too, and they're looking for ways to sell papers. Standards? Not so much. It's all about the Benjamins.
They probably thought Kristol had some credibility outside the echo chamber and would help sell papers. He doesn't. They didn't. And now there is downsizing going on at the Boston Globe (a NYT property).

And in the internet age, the WaPo's tie-ins to NBC/MSNBC seem to be working, raising up the WaPo's people who are then blogging (some successfully, Milbank, Cilizza....)
