Too much hypocrisy.... can't breathe.....

From Mark Penn, the primary proponent of "the kitchen sink,"
"This is a tried and true technique of the Obama campaign that has repeatedly shifted negative when they find the momentum shifting against them," said Penn.

  • Well, he didn't say it wasn't also a tried and true technique of the Clinton campaign... (He just tried to imply it.)

But it's certainly true that as we see Obama resorting to negativity (not to mention weaseling--the Wright and Rezko issues), Clinton is knocking that halo loose and showing that Obama is (gasp!) a politician too.

Maybe this is what Bill Clinton meant when he said "this is all a fairy tale"--the notion that Obama represents something fundamentally different and cleaner.

  • Humor me. Give me a few negativities.

(And I don't consider calling for disclosure of tax records negative. Open saying she's hiding something would be.)

The Bill Bradley thing calling her a liar. That's pretty bad. That's pretty negative (although it never got press here.)

I think some of the tone around challenging her "experience" might be called negative.

I'm not going to count Samantha Power because my sense is that she went off script.

    Give me some "negativities."

Don't kill yourself with links or a hundred entries, but just a few good examples. (With the blogworld tilted so Obama, if he's doing it alot, I'm not seeing it.)

  • This is a pretty good summary of the Obama campaign's negativity. It's compiled by a Clinton staffer, but if you ignore his rhetoric and just follow the links to what the Obama people have actually been saying, there are a lot of excellent examples.

I'm sure the people who made the statements would defend them as true. I'm not saying they are lying, or that they necessarily shouldn't have said these things. Just that they ARE being negative, and should not claim the contrary.

  • Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

Admittedly, it's Daou pleading, but I felt like I needed a sample, because I don't remember seeing anything significant from the Obama camp that I thought crossed the line from sharp to dirty except the Bradley and Powers things I mentioned above.

    Thanks.

(But you gotta admit, Mark Penn accusing Obama's camp of going dirty because they're behind is pretty damn funny.

First, Obama's not losing or behind. Second, Mark Penn was the one behind the "kitchen sink" attack and was reportedly displeased that they haven't gone far enough.)

  • Granted. Penn is a clown. His continued presence in the campaign doesn't speak well for Hillary's executive abilities.
