They didn't plan for so many names....
(McClatchy) "Congress already has run out of space on a memorial created last year to honor all of the U.S. service members killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In a grim sign of the times, the "Wall of the Fallen," set up by House Republican leaders in June, is almost full. The mounting death toll from Iraq has forced U.S. House staffers to study how to reconfigure the display in the lobby of the Rayburn Building - the largest office building for members of Congress - to squeeze in more names."

Perhaps the most tragic passage in the story, “Dan Beard, the House administrative officer recently appointed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, will look at ways to ‘reformat the wall’ to include all names, said Brendan Daly, a spokesman for Pelosi.”
Yes by all means, there must be a sane solution to this lack of wall space for all of these names.

Another example of poor prior planning, putting up a wall to commemorate the fallen while the war's still going. I guess by now they expected the Iraqis to be throwing flowers, not IEDs.

Mustard I was thinking of the significance of "shrinking the font." As the deaths mount, each one is a little less recognized.
....
Lew, This was done June '06 if I read the thing right. That would mean that Republicans even in June '06 still didn't recognize how bad this was.

Sadly, at the current rate it is ridiculous to try and squeeze in more names. We will need to EXPAND the overall capacity. This seems like just another example of how we can't face reality.

I think that's why this story has such resonance. Even in June of last year, the war supporters couldn't even see this as a possibility.
I wish there was a "cheaper" way for them to be wrong.
