Ill prepared for "the surge"
(WaPo) Short on equipment, trucks, and Humvees the US military rushes brigades into Iraq.
(Most troubling to me is the fear they may be short certain specialties, a shortage that may be horrifically exposed as US soldiers are scattered in smaller concentrations around Baghdad.)

As you would expect given their reliance on the US, Iraqi security force are similarly ill-equipped

I've seen that evidence of that as well.
So, now, the US has to make a decision, do the armored humvees rolling off the line go to Iraqi forces or to US forces?
Do we leave US forces underequipped or delay the capability of the Iraqis?
From time to time it jumps into my mind. George Bush chose this war.

It is just hard for me to swallow that with all the billions of dollars being poured into this war effort we actually need to make these kind of decisions. Shameful really.

Yeah. It's what happens when you try to conduct a war without sacrifice for the country.
They thought it was going to be easy.

Wow. That's it in spades.
I read that article down to the Kerry quote, and then, like so often happens with Kerry, I drifted off in a mixture of boredom and distaste.
