Trouble for Claire McCaskill
Over at CNN's politics blog, they've been posting financial info on the key Senate races. I don't know how much the DNC is pouring in, but if this is current and accurate, it spells trouble.
(PS. Not feeling too bloggy today. Nothing's lighting me up. So, pictures.)
Claire McCaskill (D)
Total Contributions: $6,857,826.26
Cash on Hand: $246,724.30
Jim Talent (MO-R)
Total Contributions: $11,161,485.04
Cash on Hand: $4,204,741.07

Schumer has the money to throw into this race, has already thrown some money into it, and will be throwing more into it. The DSCC knows they've got to compete financially and they're not going to starve McCaskill.
Now as for Jim Webb, that's another matter. They only started taking that race seriously a few weeks ago.
BTW, I haven't felt too bloggy today either. I notice it's been kind've a slow day on the NET. It's almost as if everybody's holding their collective breaths.

I figured that there were other monies going in, but that's a big gap to start from. The GOP can afford to pour in just as much.
However at this point, as competitive as this race has been for so long, they're really fighting over just a few people in the middle.
And I think everybody is taking a breath. This is the last weekend where everybody can rest coming into the election.
(Everbody but the soldiers in Iraq, that is.)
CNN did have Webb Allen money up at some point, and there was a gap, but it wasn't this big. Memorey tells me it was a advantage in funds raised to Allen, with like a 2 to one cash on hand. From memory, though so I could be wrong.

If what you're saying about the Webb-Allen cash on hand comparisons, its amazing!
The last I looked (if I remember correctly) was Allen with something like 6 or 7 million to Webb's 400K. Maybe the DSCC made one heck of a cash infusion.
They'd better concentrate on Ford and McCaskill, imo. If the Democrats can take Missouri and Tennessee (which they have a better shot at) they don't need Virginia because Menendez is going to defeat Junior.
Bottom line- Democrats need two out of three (to keep Cheney and his tie breaker out of the picture) and so do the Republicans.

I was working from memory, so I may be wrong, but Webb has been out fundraising Allen since the Macaca thing.
Again, I could be wrong, but I remember not being all that surprised at the numbers.
And, I think you're right on MCCaskill and Ford. Webb had his opening, but couldn't push over the top. That one could still come good, but I'm looking at the other two as well. I really think Ford has a harder climb than the polls show, though.
I don't think the polling really shows who is not willing to vote for a black man in Tenn. But I'm pulling for him so hard. There's something about his energy I just love.
The whole thing is going to be turnout in the end.
