Picture of the Day - 3

When I was a little kid, my dad went in for some minor surgery. I was too small to know what was going on, but I remember seeing him in that hospital bed in the gown, so weak. I was so scared.

33 years later, I still remember that.

  • I have a vivid memory of visiting my Godfather while he was dying when I was really little and my Dad was badly burned once and came home with his face swathed in bandages. Both were terrifying. It must be worse to have it happen when you have to go back out on the violent streets.

  • Responding to both, he'll probably join a militia for protection, starting with small things like spotting and smuggling and planting IEDs, growing up to being a footsoldier.
