Foley story not a Dem leak
I was totally convinced that the Foley story breaking now was part of the Dem campaign, and, honestly, I must admit that I'm a little let down to find out that it wasn't.
Also, let's remember ABC's sequence of what happened. They ran the story about the emails, ONLY THEN did pages start contacting them with these digusting IM logs.
(This is despite Hastert and Hannity's claims this is a Dem conspiracy.)
Brian Ross of ABC News said he learned about the e-mail messages in August but was too busy with Hurricane Katrina and the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks to pursue them immediately.....
“I hate to give up sources, but to the extent that I know the political parties of any of the people who helped us, it would be the same party,” Mr. Ross said, referring to Republicans.

Yeah, good point. I should've put that in.
A fair number of news orgs had the emails for a long while, but didn't want to go with it because the didn't have enough to ruin his career.
ABC went with it, and then the damning evidence materialized.
And, I don't hold these news orgs in contempt as alot of people are. If they didn't have enough for a solid story, you don't write this story.
I respect that caution.

First he's an alcholic and goes right into treatment, then he tells us he was molested by a priest (and of course that's why he molested boys) and by the way he's gay.
His attorney says his priority is to see to his health. How about any concern for his victims?

Yeah. I'm amazed that the "sanctity" of Rehab is honored by the press. There is nowhere else he would be allowed to hide. If he travelled to China, they would follow him. If he went in for surgery, someone would be breaking into the hospital room as he woke up.
And, I loved the semantic game. We're not claiming that being molested at an early age is an excuse, but we're going to introduce this non-connected element now.
And I really liked the way the reporters tore apart the drunk argument.
He only did it drunk. He never conducted businesss drunk, Yet, he did it during a vote, so one of those statements is a lie.
