Not a headline

Eight US soldiers died in Baghdad yesterday in multiple incidents.

That's not news, apparently.

  • Not related to this particular post, but I wanted to take the time to say "thanks" for such a thought provoking blog. I read Daily Kos and others, but your's stands out for being less -- I don't know -- panic stricken. I like reading your thoughts, viewing your photo posts, and following your links. I like the fact that you seem less partisan (cheering on a particular party) and more focused issues, events and the core of what is (or should be) American standards. Political parties can be a cancer on real leadership.

Anyway, great stuff. Keep it up.

  • Thanks a ton. It means alot.

I put alot of time into this thing, and there are points where I wonder whether it's worth it.

I know that sometimes the way that I blog doesn't really spawn comments, and I'm conceptually opposed to a hit counter (because it's your business where you go,) so, often I wonder if there's anybody out there or not.

(I couldn't quit if I wanted to. It's become an obssession. I use this blog to help me "work out" what the news really means.)

Frankly, I do think I am less partisan than the mainline Dem blogs because I don't really care about either party or their quest for power.

My main belief is that we need a split government and that acts to limit mistakes. (Look back when wars were launched! Mostly single party in power.) I was pretty unhappy back when the Dems had everything, too.

It's just that right now, the national and Texas statewide Republicans are so far to the right that I'm suddenly in the Dem camp. It's really messing up the country, and we need a restoration of balance.

    Thanks again.

    Mike
