Read Lynda Van Devanter's memoir about her year as a combat nurse in Vietnam, "Home Before Morning." I had one of my "accelerated" students read it last year. It made us both cry.
Lynda died in 2002, from cancer which she believed was caused by her exposure to Agent Orange.
Lew, did you see the chunk of the president's speech today where he promised the parents and families that the injured would get the best medical treatment. Awfully big of him.
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.
