Path to 9/11 problems more than just Clinton

I cannot find the story link for the life of me, but in yesterday's Washington Post online, one of the commentators noted that one of the scenes altered included a line blaming the WaPo for printing a story on electronic intelligence. Something along the lines of "Bin Laden stopped using his phone after the Washington Post printed...."

The objections should not just be about blaming Clinton. There seem to be Bush supporting bits peppered throughout. This entire thing is an admitted propaganda piece. Reediting won't fix that.

I will miss ESPN, though.

AND, I've been wondering about this comment in the Howard Dean letter all night. "The American people deserve to know who funded this $40 million dollar slanderous propaganda."

Does he know or suspect something there, or is this just an empty phrase designed to get people like me making an association? I would really like to know.

  • From Albright to Burger, and American Airlines to the Washington Post, I smell lawsuits.

This is not some obscure historic even. There is no excuse for such sloppiness except willful disregard for the truth. Someone had an axe to grind. Someone felt the need to "document" right-wing mythic fantasies for which there is no truth.

Now if can somebody tell be where I can donate for the Truth in History fund? I'd love to hit these lying miscreant in the only place they care about... their wallets.

  • I still can't believe they're actually going to try to run this thing.

The problem is they're in a box. With 36 hours to go, they have two nights blocked off and $40 million sunk into this thing. The people who initially authorized it are probably afraid to pull the plug because it would be such a public admission of being conned.

At the same time, the fallout from not cutting it is going to be huge. Beyond the lawsuits, every little bit is going to be scrutinized and taken apart.

If Howard Dean's statement is anything more than conjecture, this could get really nasty for ABC.

They should've cancelled it early. Of course, I haven't seen any promos for this "major event" in the last few days.

  • I'm glad this is going to air. The right would have had a field day criticizing the liberal-fascists who quashed it.

And I believe the obvious falseness of this movie is going to rub voters the wrong way - a clear exploitation of 9/11.

  • If they do the edits and the blatant stuff is pulled out, it may be more effective with just the unstated assumptions. Wiretapping good. Bush inherited the problem, etc.

    Just a thought.
