Cheney is on Meet the Press tomorrow

That's right, the dark prince himself will be the only guest sitting across from Russert tomorrow.

I think this will be Russert's journalist's moment when he has to decide whether he wants to be a journalist or a kingmaker/ Washington player. Unfortunately, my money's on the latter.

  • I don't think I can watch. Just thinking about fat Russert sucking off fat Cheney on national television gives me the creeps.

  • I'm gonna record it on the DVR and then start it. Anything really good will show up online within an hour.

  • I wonder if fat russ will ask about the SSCI report (backed by two Repubs - Hagel and Snowe) that says:

    a) Saddam had no pre-war ties to Al Qaeda or Zarqawi
    b) The CIA told the administration that the INC was infiltrated by hostile foreign intelligence agents and was feeding them bullshit on Saddam's chemical, nuclear and biological weapons capabilities and yet the administration still funded them and the VP's office still pow wowed w/ them

on another subject, mike, I think the wheels are coming off the vaunted 9/11 propaganda week coming up. here in NY, all the news media are carrying the stories about how the WH had the EPA p.r. releases changed to make it sound like the air quality in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn was safe, how Whitman lied repeatedly abiut the air quality, and how Saint Rudy reopened downtown to residents and business even though the Dept of Environmental Protection told him it wasn't safe.

I put a link up to a terrific Juan Gonzalez article in the NY Daily News about this on my blog. I really feel strongly about this and I hope the rest of teh country hears some of this while Bush is giving his four 9/11 speeches on Monday.

  • The question about the phase II report was in the first draft of this post asking whether Russert would be a journalist or not.

And, on 9/11, I agree. I think it's more than just that. I think between Iraq and Katrina, the sense of competence of the administration has been punctured, mentally rewriting the whole bullhorn moment.

Now, people don't see a president rallying national strength. They wonder, how did it all go so wrong.

  • Cheney will claim lies are truths and truths are lies. Nothing will change. Nothing will come from his Meet the Press appearance... it is all for the cult member's consumption... no one else actually believes this man.

Russert will confront him with quotes and he'll deny he said them... he'll make his profane assertions and damnable denials in his usual firm but soft spoken way....

Then, upon leaving the studio, he'll be struck with a debilitating heart attack that explodes his nervous system into a state of constant unbearable pain. It also puts him in what appears to be a persistent vegetative state and is only kept alive with the aid of modern medical technology. His family will want to remove him from life support, but the Frist-Coburn-Bush "do not unplug" law -- and the media spotlight -- makes this impossible. And every minute for the next 8 1/2 year, unbeknown to anyone, he spends his sleepless, unanimated, yet fully aware existence in constant crushing pain.

Finally he dies and is judges by his maker. That's when things get really bad.

  • I think your guess is right on that Russert will ask and the accept the no answer and move on.

    And, after that Hah!
