You don't hear about this.
At the inauguration of Alvaro Uribe for his second term as Columbia's President.
During his speech, leftist lawmakers held up photographs of many of the 58 hostages FARC rebels proposed exchanging for some of its 500 imprisoned fighters.....
Huh? What? Americans? I had to read it twice.
How is this not even passingly mentioned on CNN or in the newspapers? Is there some key part of this story that I'm missing?
I guess it's only news when it supports the foreign policy.

I saw Uribe's swearing in on the BBC last night. Man he looked like a scared rabbit. There was a quip from the news reader that there was 'added security' at his swearing in. Hmmm... Kidnapped Americans? And you never really heard much about Rachel Corrie. If the Venezuelan Army had ran over an American, repeatedly, with a Catepillar tractor we would have invaded in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... But since it was Israel, well that's just AOK with us.

That's my point.
But, I gotta say, I don't know the nature of those Americans, and that might change alot. They could be charity workers, religious missionaries, or they could be "military advisors" or CIA contractors.
