(I'll be mixing in Katrina pictures for the next couple of days.
It's my remembrance.)

  • They're talking almost all "the politics of Katrina" and rebuilding tonight. No extended shots of the Superdome and Convention Center and certainly no mention of death toll.

  • OMG Mike where did you get that. I'm still amazed at the number of people that blame the people in NOLA for their fate when they weren't able to leave. It boggles the mind that so many have so little compassion and understanding. Isn't this a Christian nation?

Being a poor white trash hillbilly myself I know that no matter how hard you are working if you do not have the money you are 'locked in' to a situation that you can't just simply remove yourself from.

Katrina was colorblind when it came to killing. The malignant neglect of elected officials that are their to protect the common welfare weren't colorblind. The neglect of NOLA was a HOLOCAUST. The intentional extermination of the poor by government agencies.

Killing thousands on 9/11 was when this administration played it's hand. Assuming that NOLA would be any different was a fools wager.

  • I'm amazed that the press rarely mentioned the dead in the coverage. 1500, or alternately 1700, died in Katrina and nobody is nobody really mentioned that yesterday.

Those were American citizens, a large number of whom died for lack of an adequate relief effort.

As you say, they were killed by governmental neglect.

As for the picture, I'm not sure where I got it. I picked it up a year ago like so many of these, so I don't remember.
