Picture of the Day - 2

Bill Clinton visits with a Katrina evacuee. (Sept. 5, 2005)

(No connection to anything. Just struck me as a stark contrast.)

  • Clinton always had a way of connecting with people. I can't say the same for our current Chief-executive.

How is the photo slide project coming? Each time I log on, I expect to see it. I know... nag, nag, nag.

  • Notice how he gets down and looks the person in the EYE...

    Cheap shot, Lew... however well-deserved.

  • Lew, I agree with Dave.

Mustard, I had to walk away from it for awhile. It was making me crazy. Plan is to pick it up again tomorrow. It'll be awhile.

Dave, I think that's what struck me so much about this is the difference. He looks like he's really listening.

If you look at the Bush photos, he always gives the hug to the victim, but you never see him listening.

  • I looked at the photo and thought, wow, that guy looks like Clinton. I didn't expect him to get THAT old that fast.

And he is a professional politician, so it's no wonder he knows how to look people in the eyes. I'm not moved by such gestures, though.

  • Clinton's 60 with heart surgery, and has beeen through the aging machine that is the presidency.

And, yeah, most politicians do the look in the eye, but there's something different about Clinton.

  • The thing I love about Clinton is that he has the same poor white trash pedrigee as I do. He beat the odds and obstacles to become a Rhodes Scholar, Governor and PUSA. I think that's what burned the GOP bluebloods the worst. How dare the rabble rise above their station!

The irrational hatred on the right of Bill and Hillary is funny at this point because it reminds me of when my kids would throw a temper tantrum. The reaction is always so much greater than the cause.

    Thanks for the pic Mike.

  • I agree with the irrational hatred, but you have to understand that since the "religious revival" in the Repubs in the 80's a growing portion of their party is based on fear.

They are there to return morality and fight off the secular humanists.
