The coming vote on the minimum wage
I'm not sure if this is a result of electioneering by the Republicans, or an honest reflection of positions in the house, but either way, House majority whip Blunt says that an increase in the minimum wage is very likely.

Sure it's most probably the election, but let me add a couple:
They have raised their own pay many times since the last minium wage raise, just looks bad.
The old argument that jobs and businesses would be hurt doesn't work, the facts just don't show that.
I'm an idealist, hears an idea. Lets raise the minium wage above federal poverty level. That would eliminate millions from federal welfare programs and save us 100's of millions of dollars.
That high of a raise might well hurt small businesses. There's no way to cut the fat on welfare programs until we get people off these programs. I don't think the American people are ready to accept the kind of human suffering we had before these social programs went into effect.
