Picture of the Day

It could be today.

Assuming a Rove indictment, the sequence would be:

1) Rove receives a target letter.
2) Fitzgerald meets with the grand jury to submit Karl Rove's name for indictment.
3) Fitzgerald issues a brief press release stating there will be a news conference later in the afternoon.
4) Release of the indictment.
5) Fitzgerald holds a press conference where he says very little.
6) Karl Rove resigns.
7) The president issues a very terse statement before leaving Nixon-like for the weekend.

(and all throughout, the press goes apeshit.)

  • "...and all throughout, the press goes apeshit" whilst I go down the street to my local Spec's, buy me some fine liquor, raise a glass to Fitz and do my happy dance.

I've got it all planned out.

  • you're making me nervous.

You never tell a pitcher when he's throwing a no-hitter until after the game.

  • It may well not be today, but the fact that the press is sending their big stars out to wait outside the Prettyman courthouse tells me that that is at least the gossip/rumor/consensus belief.

So, this may be a fizzle. If it is, go ahead and enjoy you celebratory accoutrements. Life is too short to save them. Besides, you can always celebrate again next Wed. or Fri.

And, Zen, I'm not superstitious. You don't tell the pitcher because it messes with his concentration, and that doesn't really apply.

  • Bush left town. And, no, it's not unusual for him to call it off Friday at lunch. And, before you snark, you should be thankful that he's not doing more.

So, it looks like nothing today. I based my opinion that it might happen today on the report that all the networks were staking out the Prettyman Courthouse today. I took that as a sign that they believed today might be it.

I guess not. See you next Wed/Fri.

(It is curious, though. If the floating reports of Fitzgerald meeting with the grand jury are true, (they might just be more confusion over the word "scheduled") what did he talk with them about today? Was there a vote on Rove and they decided not to indict? Was Fitzgerald submitting more evidence? Was he even there?

    Don't know.
