After Downing Street has put up some very graphic Iraq photos a large portion of which seem to be soldier photos. Warning: These are VERY GRAPHIC. So, if you want to look, look, but be warned.

  • I used to insist that they don't hate us... I'll probably have to stop.

  • "You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of need to blow some steam off?"

  • I tend to be very forgiving when it comes to soldier's non-premeditated acts in the field. I think actions of policy like Abu Ghraib should be punished beyond the full extent, and that would extend to inadequate psychological assessment and care for frontline troops, BUT, I'm always going to give low ranking soldiers under fire alot of leeway.

My intention in linking this was not intended as an indictment. It was intended more as a tiny keyhole for people to see the brutality of war that has been screened from the US population.

  • Mike, give it sunlight! I get angry that the lower ranks are left carrying the can for what is obviously encouraged from up the chain of command.
The shame in this is not the ordinary grunt, but their officers and political leaders.

  • Yeah, I can't say it any better than I did above. That's the real disgrace in all the "investigations" that have been conducted thus far. Janis Karpinski is the only high officer to even be reprimanded. And yet, Gen's Sanchez and Miller who set the interrogation policies outside her knowledge, are untouched.
