Quote of the Day
From my tennis buddy Don this morning as we were discussing Rumsfeld's possible retirement and who else should maybe go.
"George Bush is far more capable at judging loyalty than merit."

Astute observation.
"Loyalty" as defined by extremists isn't really loyalty in the traditional values sense, but mindless devotion; the ability to eschew thought, reason, morality and ethics in the name of a cause or devotion to a god. It's more akin to the mafia or a religious cult than true patriotic faithfulness.

I thought so, too. I wish I could've conveyed his tone better. I think the mafia analogy is pretty good. They all swear to a political omuerta. Speak out of turn and the Rove hitmen come after your career.
